Advocacy and Legislative Efforts

The Charles River Center is a leader in public policy advocacy. It has an active Legislative Efforts Committee comprised of parents, families and other interested people who advocate on behalf of people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities. This committee works in collaboration with Arc Massachusetts and The Arc to champion critical public policies in the legislative, executive and judicial branches of both state and federal government. In addition, we work closely with state and federal agencies that have an influence on the people we serve.

The Legislative Efforts Committee members communicate with appropriate officials to positively influence legislation and governmental policies, including educational policies that are deemed favorable to those we serve.

Our committee's activities include visits with legislators to educate and advocate on behalf of our constituency. We organize letter writing and phone tree campaigns and offer testimony on legislative bills, state budget hearings and other state and national fiscal policies.

Please generate a letter to your legislators.

The Charles River Center's Legislative Efforts Committee is open to all members. We welcome your participation in this important endeavor. Please join us!
