Charles River Center Receives Highest Survey and Certification Report

Charles River Center, Needham

The Charles River Center, a multi-service agency based in Needham that helps more than 850 adults and children with developmental disabilities, was recently re-certified with the highest level of recognition by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), following a recent Office of Quality Enhancement (OQE) survey.

All providers who serve individuals funded by DDS are required to meet State Licensing and Certification regulations that assure health, safety, human rights and quality services for the people they serve.  The OQE surveyors conducted 15 audits in Residential Services, as well as Employment and Day Services.

In addition to receiving high scores on each licensing and certification standard reviewed, the report recognized many outstanding achievements.  The report stated that the organization “has effective systems of ongoing data collection, assessment, implementation, and oversight for ensuring health, safety and quality of life of persons served.”  It also stated that “the agency operates clean, well maintained homes” and that staff “was found to be caring and extremely knowledgeable about the personalities, needs and interests of each individual served.”  In summary, the report stated that “the Charles River Center was found to provide quality services to individuals and have knowledgeable and dedicated staff across all services.”
