Communication and Coping During Hospital Visits and Hospitalizations: Preparing for Success

On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, the Charles River Center in will be hosting a seminar, in conjunction with Boston Childrens Hospital, entitled, Communication and Coping During Hospital Visits and Hospitalizations: Preparing for Success.
Presenting the discussion will be Kristen Diezel, MS, CCLS , a Certified Child Life Specialist in the Autism Spectrum Center at Boston Childrens Hospital and Michelle Howard, MS, CCC-SLP, a Speech Language Pathologist at Boston Children's Hospital.
Topics will include:
- What makes hospital visits and hospitalizations so difficult for patients with complex developmental needs?
- Consideration when planning for upcoming admissions and how to access resources
- What services are available in both inpatient and outpatient settings and how to advocate for support from Child Life Specialists, Speech-Language Pathologists, etc.
- Online resources to prepare for and use during hospitalizations and hospital visits (i.e., websites, Social Stories, other educational materials)
