Community-based day supports programs (CBDS) at Charles River Center provides adults ages 18+ with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, and autism opportunities to be an active, contributing members in MetroWest communities.
At CRC, CBDS is based on personal choice. We emphasize individualized goal development which may include employment, volunteering, recreational activities and hobbies. Activities take place both in group and classroom settings but out in community as much as possible.
Within our CBDS, we strive to enable individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities to enrich his or her life by providing opportunities for expanding their personal, social and vocational skills. Upon entering the program, each participant works with a Case Coordinator to complete a series of assessments to identify their strengths, interests, safety and communication skills. Case Managers use a range of activities and supports to help each participant grow, achieve goals and gain a sense of self-worth and accomplishment.
CRC has created our own curriculum on employment readiness that offers a hands-on-approach to learning. Lessons incorporate structured learning, positive behavior supports and fun to assist every individual to reach their personal goals, including employment.
