CRC's Own Special Olympics Field Day in Needham

Charles River Center is pleased to host our annual Ellie Bloom Special Olympics field event in Needham. Held each year in September, this day-long event is greatly anticipated by children, adults, families, staff and volunteers. This feel-good event welcomes athletes of all ages and abilities, families and volunteers.

The Ellie Bloom Olympics was named after Ellie Bloom, a long-time supporter of the Charles River Center, a former staff member who was also the parent of a child with developmental disabilities. Her spirit lives on in the special event.

Program Highlights

Every event is modified so that everyone who participates will be successful
Participate in track and field events such as running and wheelchair dashes, basketball throws, ladderball, and relay races
Held in Needham at an accessible, enclosed field
Volunteers, including 1:1 aides, provided
Tents are provided for shade, bottled water is provided
All athletes receive a medal for their achievement, a free t-shirt, and lunch
No cost to participate!

All ages and abilities are welcome
Registration is required. No walk-ins on the day
