Charlotte Ruskin

Say hello to Charlotte, our #teammembertuesday employee of the week! Charlotte has been with Charles River Center for over 11 years now and we are so lucky to have her! She currently serves as Program Director at the Grugan Center, and is proud to have served as a key player in the transition from a sheltered workshop to a Community Based Day Supports (CBDS) model. Under her steady direction, Charles River now continues to develop programming and services that help individuals with disabilities become independent, active members of their communities. Most rewarding part of her job? The relationships she has formed during her 11-year tenure. Not just with the individuals, but with their families as well. For her, it’s been “heartbreaking” to see so many families with individuals at home without services during the pandemic. “People NEED to come back, but we just aren’t ready yet to bring them back. That’s the hardest part.” For Charlotte, the one upside of the pandemic is that it presented her with the opportunity to work in some of the residential homes as well as with our Family and In Home Supports team. This has provided her with a deeper understanding of how other departments function, which, she feels, can only enhance the quality of programming and services of the agency going forward.
Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys hanging out with her daughter and the rest of her family. She likes reading, walking and hiking, and is looking forward to taking vacations once again.
